It doesn't matter. I wouldn't have slacked off. I'm pretty sure in my life that I'm going to be a perpetual student. I finished a degree in one field, and now I'm off to prove to myself that I can finish a degree in a completely different one. I love learning. I can see a lot of my peers getting burnt out on school at this point, and I totally understand that, but I love the challenge of it and hope that I'm always learning something. Learning doesn't have to stay inside of the classroom, and I hope I'm content with that kind of learning when I come to the realization that I actually have to face the fact that I'm going to have to get a job and can't always be a full time student.
I've been thinking about how I feel like I have a much more similar personality to science-y people than musicians. They're both kind of nerdy but in a different way, I think. I'm much less bombastic and self-promoting than a lot of musicians, and I just really like to use my logical left brain.
That being said, I'm so glad that I'm always going to have the ability to make music as a stress reliever. I think that'll come in handy during nursing school.
I miss singing in choir and learning new music so much right now, so I'm anxiously awaiting the season of the St. Louis Chamber Choir to begin! Gosh, I can't believe it's almost August already.
The end of the summer's always a hard time for me. It's a time where I'm relieved that my time at Grant's Farm is coming to an end and new experiences at school are on the horizon...at the same time, it means my time with Matt is coming to an end for a while, so I just want to cling onto him so tightly and never let go (probably much to his annoyance, haha). I can literally feel time encroaching on our time together. It comforts me, though, to hope that this may be the last year we have to be separated from each other for 9 months out of the year

Well, that ends my random streams of consciousness. Hope I didn't gross out anyone with the mush at the end :)
Emily I'm so proud that you've been keeping up with your blog! You're definitely doing a better job than I am. Congrats on the A in your class!!!
ReplyDeleteAww that was too mushy at the end. I threw up ;) I love you sweetie. Remember, this year will be much better!
ReplyDeleteAnd we can always learn! Reading books is my favorite thing to do and that's a great way to learn. We can be life-long learners together!!
