As of Wednesday, I will NEVER have to be a blueberry again! My school's scrubs are a head to toe bright blue, and I cannot wait to wear them for the LAST time. I've been looking around online, and there are such cute styles of scrubs! There are scrubs based on the styles in Grey's Anatomy, and there are antimicrobial scrubs that are made from 75% recycled plastic water bottles! I have no idea how that works, but that is really cool.

I will be finishing up my last 12 hour shift on a post-surgical ENT floor. I learned a ton and got to see a wide variety of things. I took care of people on ventilators. I took care of people going through alcohol withdrawal while on our floor (kind of scary). I took care of patients with tracheostomies. I took care of people who were homeless. I took care of people who had been shot two or three times. I took care of amputees. I took care of people who had attempted suicide. I took care of people who were younger than me and had cancer of the bones in their jaw. I took care of ileotstomies. I re-fed pancreatic juices to a lady where it was coming out of a hole in her body into a bag. I took care of vaginal fistulas. I took care of flaps and skin grafts. I took care of drains. I took care of patients who were going through a lot of tough issues and were not very nice to me at first. I made a lot of mistakes. I tried my best to learn from those mistakes and not make them again. I tried to kill people with kindness. I took care of patients who were sad to see me go at the end of the shift, and I took care of patients who told me I was the kindest nurse they had ever had.

Overall, this experience was one of the most difficult I have ever had to endure, but I can honestly say I learned something every day. I have a tremendous amount of respect for nurses, and I cannot wait to start my own nursing career on January 31st.
