Last weekend, Matt's family threw a surprise 25th anniversary party for his parents. I feel like most surprise parties don't tend to surprise the people they are supposed to, but this one did. Matt's parents had no idea (probably helped that they threw it a month after their actual anniversary). It was really nice, and it was nice to meet some more family members. Matt had to tell his life plans so many times at the party. I don't want him to leave yet! I want him to leave and go have a blast in grad school, but I want my hangout buddy to stay!

We went to Carl's Drive-in the night before, because I just had to try the best home-made root beer in St. Louis. It was really good! You can just tell when soda is made with real sugar (instead of this high fructose corn syrup stuff). We then were super spontaneous and went to the Galleria to see Despicable Me on a whim (yes kids, this is spontaneous for us).

I went to church with Matt on Sunday, so that I could hear one of his favorite pastors speak at his church. It was awesome to see a female pastor, and I am bitter that my own denomination will not let women serve to their fullest capacity in the church (let's get with the times, Baptists). Anyway, I liked one of the lines from a prayer said by his associate pastor when we were talking about the power of reflection and meditation on God in our lives: Help us remember that being really busy is more Oppressive than IMpressive.

In other news, I want to learn how to parallel park. I live in a city, and I feel like it is essential. Also, the lady that passed me on my drivers test when I was 16 told me she was only passing me on the condition that I would promise to learn how to parallel park. Luckily, she didn't specify a time frame, but I think I'd like to keep up my end of the bargain now. Anyone willing to teach me? :)
